If you do not try, you will never know!

Well, its been a while since the last time I did this.
I should write about our great achievement at winning the Social Enterprise and Community Involvement Award at the Barking and Dagenham Business Awards in the summer.
This was for the work we do with the elderly in the borough such as our falls prevention exercise classes, our massage in care homes and our general partnership work in the community.
It was great to be recognised for our achievements in such a short space of time.

But, to be honest, its not what I really want to talk about.

I want to talk about the commitment and determination of the people who I work with. The people who don't just give in at the first hurdle, the first hardship. They are the people who deserve awards. When I work with people who are in pain, have a had a fall or have a fear of falling again, yet are determined not to give up  and are willing to work through the hardship to reach their goals.

A good example would be an older person who a couple of months ago was advised to move her bed to her front room and get a hoist to help her transfer from her chair that she had slept and ate in for the past 12 months to a bed where she would then spend most of her day.
She didn't want that, she wasn't ready to accept it.

Last week when I visited her last she had great pleasure in telling me that she had visited her front garden to see her flowers! And she done it all by herself!! This lady deserves an award!!

This shows that hard work and commitment you put in to what you want to achieve pays off in the end if you have the determination to jump the hurdles and create your own path.

So, if you want something, go for it! Whether its a business award, an improvement in your health, a personal goal. Because if you do not try, you will never know what you can achieve!
